About ASHT

ASHT's main aim is to promote a greater awareness of the shared heritage between the Sikhs & Britain.

Phase two: 2007-Ongoing

Following feedback and identifying the need to do further work in this field, the Anglo Sikh Heritage Trail were awarded a 3 year grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. We have now embarked on an ambitious three year programme of initiatives covering education, research, and outreach.

  • The education work will aim to deliver national curriculum material based on our findings to schools and after schools clubs.
  • Delivering key community events and widening participation and access is included in our outreach work.
  • There are significant collections of Sikh or Sikh related artefacts in national, regional and local museums in the UK which would benefit from more information about their original purpose or history. Our appointed researcher will unearth these treasures and investigate, these collections of Anglo-Sikh significance.
