Gurudwara Sahib Leamington & WarwickDate: Monday, 23 November, 2009
The opening of the new Gurudwara Sahib Leamington & Warwick included a rich programme of events for young people and families. These included an informative talk ‘Shoulder to Shoulder' highlighting 160 Years of the Anglo Sikh Relationship given by historian and MDSCT Trustee, Sarinjit Bahia, and a screening of ‘A Prisoner's Song' by Micheal Singh, a short documentary film which tells the story of Mal Singh, a Sikh soldier captured by the Germans during World War One.
Also exhibiting at the Gurudwara Sahib are, 'Sikhs in Print' by the Singh Twins and 'Jawans to Generals' - a photographic exhibition of the contribution of Sikh Soldiers during the two World Wars. Both exhibitions will be on display at the Gurudwara until January 2010.
The stunning purpose built Gurudwara will serve the communities of Leamington, Warwick, and the surrounding areas and host regular exhibitions, film screenings and lectures, educating and inspiring both Sikh and non Sikh communities alike, whilst providing a place of worship.
