Memorial Gates Commemoration CeremonyDate: Thursday, 10 March, 2011
March 14th marks this years Commonwealth Day when there will be a special commemoration ceremony at the Memorial Gates in London. The gates were erected as a lasting memorial to honour the five million men and women from the Indian subcontinent, including many sikhs, Africa and the Caribbean who volunteered to serve with the Armed Forces during the First and Second World Wars.
This event, which has taken place every year since 2002, is an event to which the public can attend. Starting at 1100 with buglers, wreaths are laid by High Commissioners and representatives of the Prince of Wales and representatives of the armed forces.
