Memorial Gates

Located on Constitution Hill in Londons Hyde Park, the Memorial Gates were officially inaugurated by Her Majesty the Queen on 6th November, 2002.

They were initiated by the Memorial Gates Trust, established in 1998, with the objective of raising funds to erect a Memorial to mark the enormous sacrifices made by nearly five million volunteers from the Indian Sub-Continent, Africa and the Caribbean who served with the British Armed Forces during the First and Second World Wars.

The gates are a lasting symbol recognising the enormous contribution made in the First and Second World Wars by those commonwealth men and women and also serve to celebrate the contribution that these men and women and their descendants continue to make to the rich diversity of British society.
